Last week 47 members of the MMACHS HOSA chapter and six chaperones flew to Nashville, Tennessee for the first in-person HOSA International Leadership Conference since 2019.. Students competed in seventeen different events, attended symposiums run by health professionals from all over the country, and made new friends from different parts of the world. 2022 was unique in that all but three of our attendees had never been to an in-person version of ILC before, so this was a new adventure for the vast majority of the students. Despite their inexperience, MMACHS students found a way to shine at this year's event. Here are some of the highlights:
Finalists:
Karen Dixon - 1st Place - Extemporaneous Writing
Bella Lantz - 6th Place - Sports Medicine
Quynh Tran, Hannah Cathrae, Alexis Black, Evan Bauer, and Emily Daniell - 7th Place - Parliamentary Procedure
Alexis Conway, Amelia Ware, Anna Swanke, Ashlynn Heath, Ethan Skinner, Kaylee McCulloch - 10th Place - Parliamentary Procedure
National Service Project:
Our chapter, led by Fundraising Chair Alexis Conway, was recognized for raising the fifth largest sum of money in the world this year for HOSA's National Service Project Partner, Be the Match!
HOSA Happenings:
Our publicist, Emma Redman, was recognized for her outstanding "HOSA Happenings" portfolio, which documented all of the activities our chapter completed throughout the year.
We are so proud of all of our HOSA members, and can't wait to watch you shine again in Dallas in 2023.
